Festa Italiana will fill your senses with la dolce vita Italy and meatballs. The 12th annual Festa Italiana stretches along Taylor Street between Ashland Avenue and Racine Street.
Longtime family-owned restaurants and neighborhood newcomers will serve up some of the best food in the city. Italian and Italian-American singers will perform American and Italian classics. An Italian dance ensemble will perform and teach the tarantella, a well-loved Italian folk dance performed at Italian weddings. Fest-goers will have the opportunity to play Italian card games, compete in contests to see who can consume the most meatballs and cannoli (of course, not at the same time!), and buy Italian-themed art, and other merchandises.
Located in the heart of the Lincoln Park/DePaul Area, Vinour lovers unite! Spring will be in full swing when the glorious grapes, smooth tunes, artists and tasty edibles take center stage at the 3rd annual wine happening. Lincoln Park Wine Festival will again transform the tranquil northside pocket park into an open-air market featuring wine and food! The highlight will be ticketed wine tastings where scores of varietals will be showcased! Within the park's two-acres, wine connoisseurs will also appreciate hearing the expertise of brand ambassadors and sommeliers. Enhancing the fest will be a relaxed live-music lineup, food-wine pairings, fine artists, and the products/services of wine related vendors! A favorite family event and a harbinger of springtime in Chicago, the 19th Annual Chicago Kids and Kites Festival returns to Cricket Hill in Lincoln Park (Montrose and Wilson) on Saturday, May 6 from 10am to 4pm. Admission is FREE.
Once again, the City of Chicago will provide kite kits for children to build, decorate and fly, while supplies last. Other activities include face painting, balloon artists and crafts.
One of the most popular highlights of the festival is the Big Kite Candy Drop, which is a piñata-like kite filled with candies that drop from the sky, taking place during the afternoon, weather permitting.
Kite Harbor will be onsite for kite buyers, and professional kite flyers will demonstrate their skills with oversized and uniquely-shaped kites.
